Autism evaluation for adults
For adults who wonder whether autism helps explain how they communicate, take in the world and organize their days.

Who it is for
Adults, 18 and older, who have long felt different in how they communicate, handle noise or change, or manage social time. Many have never been asked the question properly.

What the visits look like
A 60-minute interview, then a testing day of about four hours with breaks, then a 60-minute feedback visit. If you have an old report card, a letter or a relative who remembers you as a child, bring them or tell me who to ask.

How it is done
A structured interview about your childhood and your present, a conversation designed to observe communication and social understanding, questionnaires, and tasks of attention and reasoning. I compare what I find with the criteria in the DSM-5-TR, the manual psychologists use.

What it is not
It is not therapy, a treatment plan or a prescription. The report can say you meet the criteria, that you do not, or that something else fits better. I look at those other explanations before I write.

How long it takes
From the interview to the feedback visit it usually takes six to eight weeks, mostly scoring and writing.

How it is paid
One package fee covers every visit and the report. You get it in writing before the interview.

Questions
Three questions about this evaluation
Do I need to have a childhood record?
No. Old report cards and letters help, but many adults have none. A relative or friend who knew you young can help, and I only ask them with your permission.
Can I bring someone with me?
You may bring someone to the interview or the feedback visit if that helps. The testing day is one-to-one, because the tasks need quiet.
Can I ask for changes to the room?
Yes. Tell me at the interview about light, sound, breaks or anything else that would help, and I set up the testing day to match.
